Barry spoke at my church last night. He said several times that we should not worry about what we will say, and that the Holy Spirit will give us the words. I must admit that I have doubts. To experience him in such an instant and specific way.. it’s what I want, and I believe He does it. But will He do that for me? Well, the answer is yes.
Within the first hour of my day, God came up in conversation with two different people I had never met before!
The first was a lady in the parking lot at my kids’ school. She commented on how fun and cute my daughter is. She’s noticed her over the past week at drop off. I thanked her and introduced myself, asked for her name, made friendly small talk…
I told her that my daughter’s middle name is Joy, and that I believe it’s her spiritual gift because everyone that meets her says she’s a light to be around. I told her about how she got the name – my best friend gifted me a framed Bible verse about joy for her nursery. We talked a bit more and when we parted ways she said something about motherhood being a beautiful life, and I said “yes, praise the Lord!” She said “yes!”
Immediately after, I drove to get coffee. I chit-chatted with the barista about the weather and he said something about cloud-planting to create rain. He said “it’s like they’re trying to play God” and I said “And we only need one” he said “right!”
It was really refreshing and exactly what I needed – for God to remind me that he’s faithful but not forceful. He can’t MAKE me smile and slow down and listen to people. But if I choose to do those things, He’ll show up.
The world is so full of negativity and busyness. To give anyone your time and your ear, is to love them. And like Barry says, “just love on everybody!” God will do the rest.
